Description
The Rockna Wavedream Reference DAC brings much of the DNA of the acclaimed Reference Signature model into a more accessible package, retaining the essence of Nicolae Jitariu’s uncompromising design philosophy.
At its core are Rockna’s proprietary R2R discrete RD-1 MK2 ladder DAC modules (four per channel), delivering natural, high-resolution sound with the hallmarks of Rockna’s celebrated architecture. A 27-bit FPGA-driven combined switch system powers the conversion stage, paired with Rockna’s Femtovox 2 optimized clock manager for superb timing accuracy and ultra-low jitter performance.
The Wavedream Reference also employs a low-noise, fine-tuned power supply and a fully discrete output stage (standard version), ensuring a clean, dynamic, and transparent presentation that captures the musicality and realism Rockna is known for.
While the Signature version offers incremental refinements—such as RD-0 modules, a more advanced clocking system, and the ultimate in power supply and output stage execution—the non-Signature Reference remains an extraordinary DAC in its own right, delivering much of the same engineering brilliance and sonic finesse at a significantly lower cost.
